The phytoremediation role of aquatic plants in situ is extremely important today when, due to repeated droughts and periodical shrinkage surface water resources, the load biogenic toxic substances these waters increasing dramatically. aim study was assess bioaccumulation heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mn Zn) by Groenlandia densa reintroduced area its historical occurrence habitat rivers characterized Ranunculion fluitantis vegetation. Research material collected from 3 sites Natura 2000 Western Pomerania on areas differing anthropogenic load, streams agricultural, urbanized forested catchments. showed varying content trace densa. Plants sediments site with highest located an catchment, contained more metals. tolerance elevated levels water/sediment confirmed.
